The Society of Will Writers is a non-profit making self regulatory organisation which seeks to protect the public and serve the interests of those men and women who are active professionals in our field.
The Society has set itself two main tasks:
- To promote to the public at large the real need and sense in having a valid Will; and
- to act as a self-regulatory body by vetting practitioners through stringent membership requirements, proficiency standards and on-going training.
Amongst our 1700 members are Will Writers, Solicitors, Accountants, Financial Advisers, and more. Pretty much anyone who introduces Wills to their clients or where estate planning forms part of their product portfolio.
Working under the banner of the SWW and providing the assurances to clients that you are safe to do business is another draw for members but we it’s a two way relationship and we need members to act with integrity, be dependable, honest and trustworthy in return.
The SWW has a host of membership benefits and we’ve recently expanded the number of partners that we work with. The SWW members (following approved training) can introduce Coop Funeral Plans to their clients. Also, following the introduction of GDPR earlier this year, the SWW appreciate the need to remain compliant, not complacent so Astrid is now working to provide a compliance platform to SWW members.
Co-op
The Co-op is a household name, regulated by the Funeral Planning Authority and arranges 1 in 5 funerals that take place across the UK every year. The SWW partnered up with Co-op Funercare in September in time for a launch at the SWW’s annual conference. Speaking about the partnership SWW Marketing Director, Tom Stansfield commented “We’re delighted to have partnered with the Co-op so that members can introduce their plans. It’s two of the biggest names in Estate Planning coming together for the benefit of the public. It provides opportunities for SWW members to be able to introduce fully guaranteed and leading plans which can provide real peace of mind and security to their clients and together, our two organisations will be able to highlight the real and sensible need to plan ahead.”
Jonathan Appleby, Head of Corporate Partnerships, Co-op Life Planning and Legal Services said: ‘’We are delighted to be working with the Society and its members with our market leading Funeral Planning proposition. We know from our own experience that discussing funeral plans very much forms part of a life planning discussion with a client and being able to meet that need is an important part of the service which is delivered.’’
Astrid
Astrid provides a vital link between GDPR understanding and compliance. They have introduced a platform and a series of SMART checklists which help the SWW members to remain complaint and ensure that all data held is done so properly. Anthony Belcher, Marketing Executive for the SWW suggests “Some SME owners are guilty of thinking that GDPR is now a thing of the past when in reality compliance is an ongoing obligation.” Members of SWW receive the extra benefit of a 10% discount from Astrid if they use the code SWW2019
