Dear Member,
For the past 27 years it has been my privilege not just to have created but also run The Society of Will Writers (SWW). Running the Society has also meant having had a say in how the profession would grow and what it would look like in its future, for this alone I am eternally grateful.
Where do we go from here?
Most of us are beginning to come to terms with Covid-19 and the huge changes it’s making to our lives. I suspect that there are some that may not, and to these I ask that you contact the SWW to talk to me personally about your concerns.
Out of any tragedy can come strength, fortitude and reliance to succeed. Most Members have invested a huge amount of time, effort and money in building their business only to see it possibly failing completely. So, if you do want someone to talk to, call the office and ask for me personally. Do you think that starting the SWW was easy, or everything simply fell into my lap ready to create a new organisation for a profession that did not exist?
You have an opportunity to review your business:
- There is a growth in demand, some say as much as 70%.
- An opportunity to revisit your clients and see if a review is required.
- Review your standard letters.
- Review your leaflets and stationery.
- Review your website.
Everything can be improved given the time, and here we are with the opportunity to do simply that, we may have time on our hands so don’t waste it.
We are happy to help you in reviewing all the above, at no charge.
Being a member of the SWW means you are part of a wider community, a community that will not let you down, your success is also our success.
So, let’s talk, let’s help each other and together we can and will succeed.
Kind regards,
Brian

Why did this start like a resignation?
If there are businesses failing I have no idea why, surely we are in a growth industry?

Hi Paul, we don’t have templates but we do have a web-designer who may be able to help. You can see what’s on offer at https://www.oakwebdesign.com/sww/ – Thanks!

At the beginning of 2020 I began networking with local businesses including estate agents to promote my Will Writing service and had prepared materials to deliver by hand to homes and businesses in my area.
Since the beginning of the Coronavirus pandemic, I have taken a personal decision to not continue with my plan for the time being during the Lock down. This is because I feel it is not appropriate right now to be actively promoting Will Writing in my local area.
Whilst on my Facebook page and website I am offering to provide consultations remotely by video or by phone in case anyone interested in making their Will would like to contact me, I am aware there are some people who are sensitive about being approached by someone offering a Will Writing service at this very worrying time despite it being potentially a busy period for us as Estate Planning Practitioners..
I plan to continue to publicise my services once the social distancing restrictions begin to be lifted which I hope will not be too long. In the meantime I hope that the public will become more and more alert to the importance of making or reviewing their Will in the light of the tradgedy that is this pandemic.
