The SWW are finding that more and more members are making the most of their membership benefits and are responding well to the SWW’s attempts to strengthen self-regulation.
As a mandatory requirement of membership practitioners are required to complete at least 24 hours training per year (known as CPD). This requirement helps members to fulfil their obligations to clients by ensuring that they are up to date with the relevant legislation and completely understand the products and services they offer.
As part of the SWW’s membership, the SWW provides members with an online course every month. This short course is expected to take no more than 1-2 hours but covers a key topic or key competencies. The course is comprised of a multiple choice quiz and accompanying notes.
The quizzes are NOT mandatory but do provide a great way to accrue structured CPD.
To enrol for this monthly course you must be a member of the SWW. If you haven’t yet been provided with login details email [email protected] and we will register you.
You’ll then be provided with a username and password (of which you can change the password). The CPD can be accessed on the College of Will Writing website (www.collegewillwriting.co.uk) after you’ve logged in using the ‘student login’. You can locate the monthly quiz by clicking on ‘active courses’ and then you are all set! Good luck!

Brian McMillan, Director General for the SWW firmly believes that your investment in knowledge is your key to success so what better way to become successful than to complete the SWW CPD.

Having worked in private practice for many years and am also a STEP member, CPD has been part of my life for a long time. However as a new member of SWW, the amount of different ways to access CPD to members is brilliant. I have completed June’s CPD online and found it to be easy to use, as well as having the ability to have a certificate to prove that I had done the quiz – just brilliant! I am looking forward to attending the 4 day course in July in Lincoln – mainly as a refresher, but I believe it will be most beneficial to me.
