Following a comment recently from SWW Director General stating: “There has never been a better time to join the profession” it’s important to know where to get the right training for effective self-development and to know what to expect if you want to become a Will Writer.
The College of Will Writing
The College of Will Writing (CWW) is the training arm for the Society of Will Writers. It was set up in 1995 to offer training courses to SWW members and other estate planning professionals and if often the first port of call for a professional entering the industry. It is also a useful tool for experienced professionals looking to boost their knowledge.
When the College started in 1995 it charged £98.50 as a day rate for training. The College are proud that they are able to offer this price 21 years later to SWW members but the courses offered also attract financial services professionals, solicitors, barristers and mortgage advisers.
In January of 2014 the Society opened the College’s official dedicated training facility in the beautiful city of Lincoln.
This allowed the Society to continue to offer the training that members and other industry professionals had come to expect, but at incredibly competitive rates with industry leading speakers.
Taking on the facility meant the College of Will Writing could expand the range of courses and now offer the following courses:
College Courses
- Software training
- Estate Planning and Trusts
- Advance Tax and Trusts
- Business Succession Planning
- Lasting Power of Attorneys
- Commercial LPAs
- Deputyships
The College provides a light lunch for all delegates and refreshments throughout the day (all included within the price). They are now able to offer hot options and have been awarded a 5 star food safety hygiene rating.
The College also offer bespoke off-site training courses covering all areas of Will Writing and Estate Planning. The College of Will Writing have provided bespoke training for Skipton Building Society, KMG and Home Wills. More information can be gained by contacting College administrator, Diane Mandeville.
On-site courses held at our training facility are restricted to 14 spaces. This allows tutors the best possible interaction with delegates. New starters can expect incredible support and advice when starting their business from professionals and other SWW members who are well established in the industry.
The tutors providing the training are industry leading experts in their field and have written the courses specifically for the College and the Society of Will Writers. A number of tutors are accredited by the Law Society making our courses popular with solicitors and other legal professionals.
The College of Will Writing in conjunction with The Society of Will Writers are also an approved supplier with the Career Transition Partnership, meaning that they support ex-service personnel by providing training and support when they leave the armed forces.
