With the 2024 SWW Conference fast approaching, all of us at head office are working hard on the final preparations for what I’m sure will be another excellent running of our main event.

There’s still plenty of exciting news for us to release in the run-up to the event, but for now, I want to tell you about some of the main reasons that make attending the event worthwhile. Whether this is your first conference or you’ve attended before, we’d love to have you with us, so read on to find out what it’s all about!

1. CPD

The focus of the conference has always been to earn your CPD. The conference can reward you with several hours’ worth if you attend both days, and you’ll get that through listening to our panel of expert speakers on day 1, as well as by participating in a series of workshops on day 2. This year, we’re delighted to be hosting some new faces to the conference, as well as some returning favourites, and you can view the full lineup by clicking here.

2. Networking

The conference is an excellent opportunity to meet with like-minded people, including other will writers and estate planners, lawyers, business owners, and industry stakeholders. I’m so proud to be a part of the organisation that brings this community together. As someone who is a massive fan of collaboration in our sector, it’s great to see delegates at the conference forming new relationships, friendships, and partnerships.

3. Business Development Opportunities

A big part of the conference has always been hosting our exhibitors and sponsors, who, without their support, we simply would not be able to host the event on the scale we do. They’re there for your benefit, bringing a range of products and services to help enhance your business as well as your client offering. This year we have everything from marketing agencies to specialist probate and court of protection firms, as well as charities and compliance support. You can see the full list of this year’s sponsors by clicking here.

4. Meet the SWW Regional Chairs and SWW Professional Standards Board

As part of their respective roles within the membership, the SWW Regional Chairs and members of the PSB attend the conference to participate and earn their CPD just like everybody else and to also fulfil their representative functions, providing an opportunity for delegates to meet them face to face. If you’ve not yet engaged with your regional group or the PSB, you’re missing out on excellent opportunities to get involved with the SWW, so let us show you what you can get involved with. If needed, we can introduce you personally as they’d all be delighted to speak with you and answer your questions.

5. Meet the SWW team

Last but certainly not least, the conference provides an opportunity to meet with the SWW team. A lot of work goes into organising and running the event, and I love seeing that all pay off on the day because they all work so hard to make it happen, just as they do with all their other day-to-day responsibilities. We’re an incredibly dedicated team, and whilst we’re always here to help throughout the year, the conference is an excellent opportunity to put on our best show and give you another chance to catch up with us and discuss any needs or share any feedback you have. If you’d like an introduction to a specific member of the team in attendance, then just let us know, and we’d be happy to find time for you throughout the event.

Bonus reason – it’s fun!

You might not think a will writing conference could be fun, but you’d be wrong. Whether it’s taking part in the talks and workshops, chatting with your fellow members or the SWW team, playing the games the sponsors bring, entering prize draws, attending the delegates’ dinner and enjoying the entertainment (and bar, he says, laughing nervously), there’s something for everyone at the event. Please consider attending because, as many of those who attend regularly and have been doing so for some 20+ years now will tell you, it’s well worth it. This will mark my 9th SWW Conference, and as the highlight in the SWW’s calendar, I can’t help but get excited about it every year!

So, there you have it. 5, well, 6 reasons to attend the SWW Conference.

This year’s conference takes place on the 7th and 8th of October at The Hilton East Midlands Airport Hotel, and tickets are still available so book your place before it’s too late!

For further information about the event, including the full agenda, speaker and sponsor information, as well as booking forms, just visit out dedicated conference page here.

Otherwise, if you’ve got any questions then just get in touch and we’d be more than happy to help.

See you there!
