SWW Strengthening Audits

Every member of The Society of Will Writers is subjected to an audit once a year. The SWW uses the information collected through the annual audit to check members are meeting our mandatory requirements, such as compliance with the Code of Practice, Insurance and CPD hours. The audits also help us to better understand member’s business operations, information on complaints (if any), software usage and document storage. Without returning a completed audit, we cannot ensure any member’s details are correct and up to date, and cannot renew a member’s certificate of compliance and ID card for the year ahead.

Starting from April membership renewals, the SWW will be introducing expanded and strengthened audits to both Full and Affiliate members to improve our monitoring processes. Some questions have been tweaked and some new ones have been added, increasing the length of each form only slightly, as such we don’t expect these new forms to be any more onerous than the previous.

The SWW Professional Standards Board (PSB), whose purpose it is to aid the SWW in monitoring and improve standards across the membership were tasked with expanding the audits. The project, led by Atul Jobanputra was completed ahead of the PSB’s most recent meeting in March where the forms were then approved and signed off by the SWW ready for use from April.

As always, audits will be sent via email one month in advance of membership renewal and for ease can be returned the same way. Full members must return their audit to head office along with accompanying evidence where necessary and affiliate members should return their audits to their full member for checking. Full members are responsible for ensuring their affiliates are up to date with training and are adhering to the Code of Practice and where affiliates are found to not be compliant, they should speak with us for guidance.

For questions about annual audits or any other membership queries, please contact us via [email protected] or call 01522 687888.

Attending CPD events over the past two years has been impossible due to the draconian measures introduced by government. I personally have attended a good number of web presentations and two SWW meetings in Scotland. Hopefully things will improve in the coming year but the environment over the past year must be taken into account when assessing CPD requirements.

Hi Michael, we’ll be expanding our range of both in-person and online courses over the coming months and would love to see you on one soon. If you need any support with CPD in the meantime, please contact [email protected] and he will be more than happy to help.

      Thanks,
      Anthony
